Start Appleshare IP Mail Server at system startup

In most cases, it's best to select this option. This ensures that if the server is restarted after a power failure or other unexpected event, mail services will be available.

Disk Space

    Suggested minimum free disk space:
The mail server stops accepting mail when the amount of free disk space falls below this value.

    Preferred free disk space:
You should enter a number that is greater than or equal to the suggested minimum.

Mail Storage Volume

Unless you change the volume, mail is stored in a file named AppleShare IP Mail Data in the AppleShare IP Mail Folder on the startup disk.

Click the Storage button to change the volume.

Log Files

The mail server maintains two logs:
Mail server log: Contains information about normal operations, such as when the mail server started and stopped.
Error log: Contains information about problems, such as failure to deliver mail.

When a log reaches the maximum size, the mail server removes the oldest entries to make room for new ones.

Maximum size for server and error logs:
If you increase the size of either log, use the Get Info command in the Finder to increase the minimum memory allocated to Mac OS Server Admin by the amount you increased the mail logs.
